Dimitris Stavrou is a Professor of Science Education at the Department of Primary Education, University of Crete, and Director of the Science Teaching Laboratory. He has served on the Board of the Hellenic Association for Science Education and Technology (ENEFET) as President (2015–2017), Vice President (2019–2021), and Treasurer (2011–2015). He has published in international journals such as Science Education, International Journal of Science Education, Chemistry Education Research & Practice, and has presented at international conferences including ESERA, GIREP, and ECRICE. He has served or is serving as the Principal Investigator for the University of Crete in the FP7 European project Irresistible (2013–2016), and in Erasmus+ KA2 projects IDENTITIES, STEM-DIGITALIS, DIGITAL STEM LABS, STAGE (2019–2024), and FEDORAS Academy (2025–2028). His research interests focus on (i) the reconstruction of contemporary science topics (Climate Change, Nanotechnology, Nonlinear Dynamical Systems, Quantum Mechanics), (ii) the pre-service and in-service teachers education in STEM approaches in formal and informal learning environments, (iii) the use of digital technologies, and (iv) the integration of socioscientific issues into science teaching.
